Smile Design Consultation at Montville Center for Dentistry

What it is

A smile design consultation is a conversation with a clinical exam attached. You describe what bothers you, and we work out which of the available options actually address it.

We photograph your smile and take any imaging needed to check the health of the teeth and gums underneath. Cosmetic work sits on top of that foundation, so the foundation gets checked first.

You leave with a written summary of the options, the sequence they would follow, and what each one involves. Deciding later is normal.

Who it is for

  • You want a change but are not sure what it should be.
  • You have been quoted elsewhere and want another view.
  • You are weighing whitening against veneers or aligners.
  • You want to know whether your teeth are healthy enough first.
  • You want a plan in writing before you commit.

What to expect

  1. Conversation

We start by listening. What you dislike in a photograph is often more specific than a general wish for whiter teeth.

  2. Exam and records

Teeth, gums, and bite are checked, and photographs are taken so we can talk about your own smile rather than a stock image.

  3. Options explained

We set out what each route involves, including the ones that are more conservative than what you came in asking for.

  4. Written plan

You go home with a summary. Nothing is scheduled at the consultation unless you ask for it to be.

Questions we hear most

No, and most people do not. You take the written plan away and get in touch when you have thought about it.

Yes. If your teeth are healthy and the change you want is minor, we will say that plainly.

It can, and it often is. Let the front desk know when you book so enough time is set aside.

Any photographs of your own smile that you like or dislike, and any treatment plans you have been given elsewhere.

Talk it through with a dentist before you commit to anything.

Bring your questions to a consultation. We will explain what we see and what the options are, and nothing gets booked until you decide it should.
