Single Tooth Implants
A dental implant replaces one missing tooth from the root up, without involving the healthy teeth beside it. It is planned here, placed here, and restored here.
What it is
An implant is a small titanium post that takes the place of a natural tooth root. It sits in the jawbone, and once the bone has settled around it, a crown is attached on top. The finished tooth is fixed in place, so it is brushed and flossed like the rest of your mouth.
The alternative to an implant is usually a bridge, which relies on the teeth on either side of the gap. An implant stands on its own. That means the neighbouring teeth are left alone, which matters when they are healthy.
Planning starts with imaging so we can see bone height, bone width, and the position of nerves and sinuses before anything is scheduled. If the site is not ready, we say so and talk through what would make it ready.

What to expect
Consultation and imaging
We take a panoramic or three dimensional scan and review the site with you on screen. You will see the same picture we are working from.
Treatment plan
We write out the stages, the sequence, and what each visit involves. Nothing is booked until you have read it and agreed to it.
Placement
The post is placed under local anaesthetic. You go home the same day with written aftercare and a number to call if anything worries you.
Healing check
We review the site once the bone has had time to integrate with the post. Timing depends on you, so we confirm it as we go.
Final crown
A crown is made from a digital scan, shaded to your other teeth, and fitted. We check the bite before anything is finalised.

No. Implant treatment happens in stages because the bone needs time between placement and the final crown. We map the stages out for you at the consultation.
It is common and it is checked before anything is planned. If the site needs building up first, we explain that option and what it involves before you decide.
